Jr. Church is a children’s ministry designed for kids in jk- grade 5. Held during the main worship service on Sunday mornings, Jr. Church offers age-appropriate Bible lessons, activities, crafts and songs to help children grow in their faith. Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where children can learn about God’s love, build friendships, and develop a strong foundation in their spiritual journey.
NEW THEME: THAT'S DIFFERENT
Week 1
Our next series is called “That’s Different.” It’s all about how as Christians we are called to
speak, think, and act differently. We’re going to talk about how to love Jesus with our whole
selves: mouth, ears, heart, hands & feet. As we explore the book of James, we’ll teach
practical truth about how to be and follow good examples. During week 1, we are going to
focus on loving Jesus with our mouths. We will learn that God created our voices to speak
kind and encouraging words, not mean and degrading ones. Take a look at James 3:2-12 to
see what he has to say about this. We’re excited to put our energy into showing kids how to be different.
Week 2
Often it seems like a child isn’t wearing their listening ears. This weekend we will remind
them what an important thing our ears are – we can love Jesus with them when we listen to His Word and obey it. We will use James 1:19-25 to teach kids the importance of listening to God and doing what He says. When we hear and do, we are different from the world. Read this passage to get prepared for this weekend. We need to remember that listening and doing go hand in hand.
Week 3
This weekend’s lesson is so important it’s quoted in both the Old and New Testaments.
Deuteronomy 6:5 and Matthew 22:37 both tell us to love God with this major body part: our hearts! It’s important that we communicate this month that we need to love Jesus both externally and internally. We often associate our hearts with how we feel, but it’s more than that. We’re going to explore how joy should be a part of how we are different as Christians. It’s an emotion that is so deeply rooted that nothing can steal it. We’ll read from James 1:2-8 and talk about how we can have joy even if we are also sad or angry. We will help our kids with the truth that God can help us find and remember that joy when we are feeling down.
Week 4
I’m sure you’ve heard it said before – actions speak louder than words. And it’s true. That’s
because it’s Biblical. 1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech
but with actions and in truth.” Now of course our words are important as we have already
learned, but if there’s no action behind them, what’s the point? James 2:14-17 will be our
focus passage. The bottom line is this - faith without works is dead. We are called to do
something. We’re wrapping up our teaching by letting kids know that we can love Jesus with our hands and feet. Yes, even kids are called to action. They learn this best not just by us talking about it, but by our modeling. So, I challenge you this week to not only say you love Jesus with your mouth, ears, and heart, but to display it with your hands and feet. Go meet some needs!
